Inter Milan and AC Milan have officially finalized the purchase of the San Siro stadium and the surrounding land from the City of Milan for approximately €197 million as of November 5, 2025.

This acquisition marks the end of nearly 80 years of municipal ownership.

With this, both clubs now have full ownership of the property, enabling them to plan and develop a new state-of-the-art stadium complex with a seating capacity of 71,500.

Renowned architect Norman Foster, alongside the firm Manica, has been commissioned to design the new stadium, with construction expected to begin in 2027 and the facility planned to be operational by 2031.

The deal, which was completed ahead of the initial November 10 deadline, includes bank guarantees from the clubs and financing support from Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Banco BPM, and BPER Banca.

The current San Siro stadium is set for demolition except for a heritage section, and the stadium will also serve as a venue for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics opening ceremony before its demolition.

Despite the celebration, an investigation for alleged bid-rigging related to the sale has been opened by prosecutors but is not expected to block the deal.

This purchase is seen as a historic move for both Serie A giants, symbolizing a new era for AC Milan and Inter Milan and Italian football at large.
