A Nollywood production manager named Anierobi Courage, popularly known as Nwa South, was arrested after violently assaulting a female colleague, Mary Chizzy Eze, the head of makeup, during the filming of the movie “Lagos to Opulence” in Lagos.

The incident occurred on October 28, 2025, and began after Mary raised complaints about poor and overcrowded accommodation conditions for the crew, notably that 15 female crew members were lodged in a single room.

This protest reportedly led to a confrontation with Courage, which escalated into physical violence.

A video that went viral on social media shows Courage pushing Mary onto a chair, hitting her, grabbing her by the neck, and tearing her clothes, while other crew members struggled to intervene.

The Nigeria Film Crew Community (NFCC) condemned the attack, describing Courage’s actions as inexcusable, unprofessional, and criminal.

The NFCC criticized the inhumane accommodation conditions and called on the relevant industry bodies to blacklist Courage from all productions and suspend his work engagement for six months while the Nigerian Police Force investigates the case.

Mary Chizzy Eze has received medical treatment following the assault. The NFCC emphasized that violence has no place on film sets and urged industry stakeholders to uphold respect and safety as non-negotiable standards.

They also urged stronger measures against abusive conduct to protect the dignity and welfare of crew members in Nollywood productions.
