Veteran Afro-Juju musician Sir Shina Peters admitted that he pretended to be mentally unstable as part of a carefully planned publicity strategy to regain public sympathy after leaving Prince Adekunle’s band.

Fans had accused him of betraying his mentor for money, causing widespread backlash.

To change public perception, his team asked him to braid his hair for three days, wear torn clothes, and act erratically in public places like Oyingbo Market and a Julius Berger construction site in Badagry.

This acted madness included eating in public and behaving like a madman to evoke compassion from the public.

Although Sir Shina was initially unaware of the full plan, the stunt worked and helped him rebuild his image and win back fans’ support for his solo career.
