Victor Osimhen has been officially shortlisted for the 2025 CAF (Confederation of African Football) Player of the Year Award.
He is among the top 10 nominees, which includes other prominent African football stars like Mohamed Salah from Egypt and Liverpool, and Achraf Hakimi from Morocco and Paris Saint-Germain.
Osimhen, currently playing for Galatasaray, who previously won the award in 2023, has had an impressive 2025 season, leading Galatasaray to the Turkish Super Lig title with 26 league goals and securing a record €75 million transfer from Napoli to Galatasaray.
The award recognizes outstanding performances by African players in all competitions during the period from January 6 to October 15, 2025.
Other Nigerian nominees include Stanley Nwabali for Goalkeeper of the Year and Daniel Bameyi for Young Player of the Year. The winners will be announced at CAF’s annual awards ceremony later this year.
