Renowned Evangelist Dr Uma Ukpai Is Dead

One of Nigeria’s most esteemed Christian leaders, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai is dead. He passed away on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.

In a heartfelt statement, his family announced that the revered evangelist had “finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.”

Widely regarded as a faithful soldier of the cross, Dr. Ukpai devoted over six decades to preaching the gospel with fervor, manifesting the power of God through signs and wonders, and nurturing generations of ministers.

Renowned for his large-scale evangelistic crusades that drew crowds across Nigeria and beyond, Dr. Ukpai was celebrated for his dynamic teaching, humility, and unwavering dedication to the message of Christ.

The family’s tribute reads in part:  “With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the triumphant homegoing of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai… He was a spiritual general known for evangelism, a founding father of faith, loving husband, devoted father, and mentor to many.

While we mourn his physical absence, we rejoice that he has finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.”

Funeral arrangements will be communicated by the family in due course. Dr. Ukpai is survived by his wife, children, and a global community of believers profoundly touched by his life and ministry.
