Natasha Resumes Senate After Six Months Suspension
Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, senator representing Kogi Central, officially resumed her seat in the Senate on Tuesday at 11:42 a.m.
She entered the chamber with a composed smile, proceeded to her designated seat, and exchanged greetings with a few colleagues after settling in.
Accompanying her were several loyalists and activists, including prominent advocate Aisha Yesufu, who was seen in the gallery. However, some of her supporters were denied access to the viewing area.
Her return comes after a court deemed her six-month suspension from the Senate as excessive. The Senate had recently reopened her office, signaling a shift in stance following earlier insistence by the National Assembly that she remained suspended due to ongoing legal proceedings.
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s reinstatement unfolds against the backdrop of a lingering controversy surrounding her accusation of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
During her suspension, which began on March 6, 2025, she was barred from accessing her office, and her security detail and legislative allowances were withdrawn.
