Veteran Nigerian singer Salawa Abeni has dispelled rumors of her death.
In a video she posted on Instagram, Salawa Abeni appeared cheerful, briefly sang, and assured her fans and loved ones that she is alive, healthy, and doing well.
She thanked everyone for their love and concern and criticized blogs spreading false death news as shameful and chasing trends. Salawa also warned detractors, saying anyone wishing her dead would “go before her.”
Known as the Queen of Waka, she rose to fame in the 1970s and was the first Yoruba female artist to sell over a million copies of an album.
She urged the public to disregard all the death rumors and affirmed, “The Queen is fine and doing very well”.
