Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has harshly criticized women who choose to become second wives, labeling them as “w!tch3s” in a bold and controversial social media post.

Sharing a video of a pastor condemning the practice, Rita strongly aligned with the cleric’s message, accusing second wives of greed and jealousy driven by witchcraft.

She stated that marrying an already married man is an act that feeds on another woman’s tears and builds happiness on someone else’s pain, describing it not as love or destiny but as wickedness and covetousness.

Rita went further to declare that a second wife is not a queen but a usurper—a thief who sneaks into another woman’s home under false pretenses.

She warned that the pain and suffering caused by such actions would eventually return to haunt the second wives, emphasizing that there is no glory, only shame, curses, and a constant reminder that they will never be first.

The actress’s post ignited a debate online, reflecting her well-known prior disapproval of the union between Yul Edochie and his second wife Judy Austin, which she has disapproved of openly in the past.

Rita Edochie’s critical stance shines a spotlight on the contentious and sensitive topic of polygamy and the dynamics involving second wives in Nigerian society, with her words evoking strong reactions both in support and opposition among her followers and the public.
