Tinubu Attends Yari Son’s Wedding In Kaduna, Comforts Buhari’s Widow

President Bola Tinubu attended the wedding Fatiha of Nasirudeen, son of former Zamfara Governor Sen. Abdul’Aziz Yari, held at Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna on Friday.

He also paid a visit to the family of his predecessor, the late Muhammadu Buhari.

The wedding drew prominent political leaders, traditional rulers, religious figures, and business moguls from across Nigeria. Security was significantly tightened ahead of the event in Kaduna, with increased surveillance and full hotel bookings by arriving guests. On the wedding day, a strong security presence was visible around the mosque, and vehicular movement was restricted.

Upon arrival at Kaduna International Airport, Tinubu was warmly received by Governor Uba Sani and cheered by party supporters and residents lining the streets, waving banners and singing solidarity songs.

Following the ceremony, the president visited the late President Muhammadu Buhari’s residence to offer condolences to his family. He praised Buhari as a selfless leader whose contributions to Nigeria’s unity and progress are lasting, assuring the family of his ongoing support.

Dignitaries present included Governors Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Umar Bago of Niger, Dikko Radda of Katsina, and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara, alongside Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle.

Other notable attendees were former Governors Sule Lamido of Jigawa, Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto, Adamu Aliero of Kebbi, Ahmad Sani Yarima of Zamfara, Abdulfatai Ahmed of Kwara, and Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina.

The gathering also featured former Chief of Army Staff, retired Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai; former Communications Minister Isa Ali Pantami; APC National Chairman Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda; APC National Secretary Ajibola Basiru; and National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu.

Traditional rulers included the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II; the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade; and the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmad Bamali.

Renowned clerics such as Sheikh Kabiru Gombe, Sheikh Bala Lau, and Kaduna State CAN Chairman, Reverend John Hayab, offered prayers for the couple and Nigeria.

Nasirudeen married Safiyya Shehu Idris, daughter of Alhaji Shehu Tahir-Malumfashi.

Residents described the wedding as one of the largest social and political gatherings in recent memory, noting the significant vehicular and pedestrian traffic despite movement restrictions in the city.
