Police Arrest Islamic Cleric With Human Flesh In Oyo

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested an Islamic cleric named Alfa Bashiru for possession of suspected human flesh.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the arrest on Thursday via the verified X handle of the Command.

He explained that a Federal Highway Patrol team stopped a white bus with registration number XA 551 IRG, which the suspect was allegedly traveling on, at the Toll Gate area of the Ibadan Expressway at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

When questioned, the suspect reportedly claimed he purchased the suspected human flesh in Lagos. Bashiru has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Iyaganku for further investigation.

“The suspected item is undergoing forensic analysis to determine its authenticity and source,” Osifeso stated.

In a separate incident, police operatives recovered an abandoned Toyota Camry with registration number LSD 957 JX during a Search and Stop Operation. The vehicle was flagged down during a routine check, but the driver fled, leaving the car behind.

“The car has been taken into custody by the Command while members of the public with legitimate claims to the vehicle are urged to come forward with verifiable documents or contact the Police Command,” Osifeso said.

He emphasized that Stop and Search operations are not mere security theatrics but genuine efforts to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of residents and travelers in Oyo State.

Osifeso added that under Commissioner of Police Femi Haruna’s leadership, the Command appreciates the public’s continued cooperation and reassured them of ongoing efforts to fight crime and create a safer environment.
