Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State and his wife, Dr. Nonye Soludo, have rejected an apology reportedly credited to Senator Uche Ekwunife regarding defamatory remarks made against them.

The apology, said to come from the “Ekwunife Campaign Organization,” was dismissed as a fabrication and lacking credibility by the governor’s office.

They argue that the apology did not come directly from Senator Ekwunife herself, who had made the allegations via recorded video and leaked audio.

The Soludos insist that any genuine apology or retraction must come directly from Ekwunife through the same channels as the original remarks.

Senator Ekwunife had earlier been given a 72-hour ultimatum by the First Lady, Dr. Nonye Soludo, to retract her claims of infidelity against the governor’s wife and tender a public apology or face legal action.

In response, Senator Ekwunife, through a statement signed by her Special Adviser, dissociated herself from offensive publications falsely attributed to her camp and apologized to the governor, his wife, and the public for any distress caused.

However, the Soludo administration maintains that this apology is not credible since it did not directly address the original allegations made by Ekwunife herself.

Additionally, the governor’s side challenged Ekwunife to swear an oath affirming fidelity to her marriage and to subject her children, alongside the Soludos’ children, to DNA tests to disprove the infidelity allegations.

The office affirmed they will continue to demand a clear and unequivocal retraction from Ekwunife personally, describing the current apology as insufficient and misleading.
