The Premier League’s spending during the summer transfer window has reached a record £2.37 billion after Leeds United secured the signing of Swiss striker Noah Okafor from AC Milan for £18 million.

This new total surpasses the previous record of £2.36 billion set in 2023.

The Premier League’s expenditure is notably higher than that of other major European leagues combined, including Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and La Liga.

Leeds’ signing of Okafor was part of a broader intense transfer activity across the league, with some clubs breaking their own transfer records this summer.

The transfer window is still open with 11 days remaining as of August 20, 2025, and spending is expected to potentially exceed £2.5 billion by the deadline on September 1, 2025.
