Mohbad Tragedy: Naira Marley Set to Speak Out Today

Nigerian Afrobeats artist Naira Marley has revealed plans to speak publicly for the first time about the death of his former signee, Mohbad, in an exclusive interview airing at 8 PM today on the Marlian Music YouTube channel.

In a tweet, Marley wrote: “Meet me on YouTube @8pm. It’s time to tell my side of the story…”

Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Aloba, passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, triggering widespread mourning and intense public scrutiny. Prior to his death, the singer had alleged threats to his life from Marley, his former label boss, and had been hospitalized for an ear infection.

Following his death, Mohbad’s body was exhumed for autopsy as part of ongoing investigations. Marley was arrested on October 3, 2023, and detained for 44 days before being cleared—alongside music promoter Samson ‘Sam Larry’ Eletu and Owodunni ‘Primeboy’ Ibrahim—of any involvement in the case. The clearance came on February 26, 2025, based on recommendations from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Despite the legal outcome, public sentiment remains divided. While some fans continue to demand accountability, others are looking to Marley’s upcoming interview for clarity and closure.
