Sean Kingston has been sentenced to 42 months (3.5 years) in federal prison for his involvement in a $1 million wire fraud scheme.

The scheme involved Kingston, whose legal name is Kisean Paul Anderson, and his mother Janice Turner conspiring to defraud businesses by exploiting Kingston’s celebrity status to obtain luxury goods such as watches, a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, audio/video equipment, and more without paying for them.

They sent fake wire transfer receipts to the victims but never cleared the payments. Kingston apologized in court and expressed remorse for his actions.
