Jack Grealish has officially joined Everton on a season-long loan from Manchester City for the 2025/26 campaign. The 29-year-old England international decided to move to Everton after discussions with the club’s manager, David Moyes, and was influenced by the overwhelming support from Everton fans on social media.
Grealish expressed excitement about joining Everton, calling it a “massive” move and praising the club and its fans.
Grealish move comes after a period of reduced playing time at Manchester City, where he made only seven league starts last season and was left out of their Club World Cup squad. This loan gives him an opportunity to regain consistent playing minutes and revive his career as he aims to secure a place in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
At Everton, Grealish will wear the number 18 shirt, which holds a special significance for him due to his admiration for former English players Wayne Rooney and Paul Gascoigne, who both wore that number at Everton.
Manchester City initially signed Grealish from Aston Villa in August 2021 for a then-record £100 million. During his time at City, he made 157 appearances, contributing to three Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, and an FA Cup win. However, his role diminished recently, prompting the club to facilitate this loan move so he could play regularly and regain form.
Everton manager David Moyes praised the timing of the signing, highlighting Grealish’s experience and capability to perform at a high level in the Premier League. The club views him as a marquee signing and a key player for their upcoming season, especially as they prepare to launch a new era at their new stadium.
Grealish is expected to make his Everton debut in the Premier League opener against Leeds on August 18, 2025, in a Monday Night Football fixture.
