Adeleke Invites APC To Davido’s Wedding In US
In an unexpected gesture of goodwill, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has invited the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to attend the wedding of his nephew, global Afrobeat sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, in the United States.
The invitation, extended through the governor’s spokesperson Mallam Olawale Rasheed, came in response to the APC’s public inquiry about the governor’s whereabouts.
Adeleke had departed Nigeria via the family’s private jet to attend Davido’s high-profile wedding, following the couple’s lavish traditional ceremony in Lagos earlier this year.
“His Excellency is extending an invitation to the opposition party to attend the event and share in the joy of the occasion with the Adeleke family,” Rasheed stated.
“Those unable to attend may join virtually”.
The move, while symbolic, adds a layer of political theater to an already headline-grabbing celebration.
It also underscores Adeleke’s attempt to defuse criticism over his absence from office, which the APC had described as “abnormal” and lacking transparency.
Rasheed emphasised that Governor Adeleke has not taken any official vacation since assuming office in November 2022 and that this trip is brief.
He also assured the public that Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi is actively overseeing state affairs and remains in constant communication with the governor.
The invitation to the APC, whether accepted or not, marks a rare moment of cross-party outreach, set against the backdrop of one of Nigeria’s most talked-about celebrity weddings.
