Yahaya Bello Marries Fourth Wife Amid EFCC’s N80 Billion Fraud Case
Despite being embroiled in a high-profile money laundering case involving over ₦80 billion, former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello added a fourth wife to his household in a discreet ceremony held on Saturday, July 12, in Kubwa, Abuja.
The event was kept low-key, perhaps to avoid media attention amid his ongoing legal troubles with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The bride, 23-year-old Hiqma, reportedly caught Bello’s eye in recent months, prompting swift traditional rites.
Sources say the former governor, an APC chieftain spared no expense in securing the union, even as he faces multiple counts of financial misconduct, including allegations of diverting public funds and concealing illicit transactions through foreign accounts.
His third wife, Hajia Hafiza Yahaya Bello, confirmed the marriage via Instagram, warmly welcoming Hiqma into the family.
Bello’s other wives include Amina Oyiza, a lawyer and philanthropist; Rasheedat, who was widely regarded as the de facto First Lady during his tenure; and Hafiza.
The timing of the marriage has raised eyebrows, given Bello’s legal battles.
He is currently being prosecuted by the EFCC and has appeared in court over charges that include criminal breach of trust and laundering billions.
