Without Prayer, Nigeria’s Situation Would Be Dire, Says Pastor Adeboye

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has cautioned Nigerians against doubting the influence of prayer on the country’s affairs.

Speaking at the RCCG national headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, while hosting security and paramilitary personnel from across the nation, Adeboye emphasized that Nigeria would be in a significantly worse condition without the steadfast intercession of its citizens.

He warned that the true impact of these prayers would become glaring if national intercession were to stop even for a single week.

“Some say, ‘You’ve been praying and fasting — where is the result?’ I laugh. If we had not prayed, Nigeria would have been in a far worse state. Let’s not stop.

“There is a God who rules in the affairs of men. If those praying would pause for just one week, the difference would be terrifying. Keep praying. God controls the hearts of kings,” he said.

Adeboye added that while God’s protective presence may not be physically visible, it is evident to those who trust Him.

“Your security is only assured in Him. Whether in peace or war, young or old, the Almighty casts a shadow of protection over His own,” he said.

He appreciated the efforts of the security agencies, stressing that divine protection remains unmatched in safeguarding lives and property.

Among those present at the session were personnel from the Department of State Services, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nigerian Correctional Service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigerian Navy, and Nigeria Immigration Service.

Also speaking, Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, Pastor Dele Balogun, acknowledged the country’s security challenges and reaffirmed the church’s support for security personnel through prayer.

He said, “We thank God for what He is doing in Nigeria. But we all know these are critical times for national security.

“These men and women have been saddled with the responsibility of defending the territorial integrity of our country. We’ve heard reports of some coming under attack, so we felt compelled to support them in prayer — regardless of their religious affiliation.

“We need them in this nation, and that’s why the church gathered to pray for peace and security.”
