Tinubu begged me for two months to be his minister, El-Rufai

..Will not attend APC caucus meeting tomorrow

Former governor of Kaduna State and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Mallam El-Rufai has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu begged him for two months to serve in his government.

He also disclosed that he will not attend the party’s caucus meeting holding at the Presidential villa, Abuja tomorrow.

He, however, dismissed the report that his nomination was dropped based on security report against him, disclosing that it was Tinubu that changed his mind.

He said he was disappointed with the way APC is being run because all the organs of the party has been paralysed.

El-Rufai, who said he still remain in politics said he is just 65 and not ready to retire. But he warned that if APC does not restore the democratic values they agreed upon, he will quit the party.

He said he was concerned that APC members were always jittery whenever he met his friends in other political parties but ruled out the possibilities of joining the PDP.

He said he was concerned that organs of the party are no longer working, he said he has no issue with President Tinubu, When Presiden Tinubu begeed me to come and serve him publicly, I told me I had my private plans. He beeged me for two months.

Don’t believe that the National Assembly rejected me, it was the president that changed his mind and changed the list.

“I believed he changed his mind, I was a governor for 8 years, I was a minister 20 years ago and what is the security issue. It is a job I didn’t want in the first instance. As anybody released the security report.

President Tinubu wanted to give me the challenge that nobody has defeated energy problem and that’s what I wanted to do before he changed his mind.

Fielding questions on reform of the government, he said, “I don’t want to make any judgment on the government. I support most of the policies because they are good but the quality of people implementing them are wrong. You don’t import food by discouraging local farmers.
