DSS storm Lagos Assembly as Obasa returns
The last may not have been heard about the crisis that followed the removal of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly as operatives of the Department of State Security Service (DSS), on Monday, stormed the Assembly, sealing the offices of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
This is coming on the heels of Mudashiru Obasa’s return to the Assembly for the first time since his removal as the Speaker.
Members of the Lagos Assembly had, last month, removed Obasa in absentia, replacing him with her former Deputy, Mojisola Meranda.
Following his return from the United States, Obasa rejected his impeachment, labelling it as illegal.
The ousted Speaker, last week, sued the Assembly, challenging the legality of his removal in a motion filed at the Ikeja Division of the State High Court.
According to report, the armed security personnel arrived at the Assembly around 10am, taking over the premises at Alausa, Ikeja.
