The Senior Pastor of Fountain of Life Church, Jimmy Odukoya, recently explained why he chose to keep his dreadlocks despite taking on the leadership role of the church. In a video shared on his Facebook account, Odukoya revealed that his decision was guided by divine instruction.

He emphasized that keeping his dreadlocks was not a fashion statement but a spiritual directive aimed at saving a life.

Odukoya recounted his conversation with God before assuming his pastoral duties, asking whether he should cut his hair. He stated, “The Lord told me not to cut my hair. I said, ‘Lord, are you sure?’ He said, ‘Don’t cut it.’ I don’t know what you’re trying to do, but I’m crazy enough to follow you.”

He also shared that his sister, Associate Senior Pastor Tolu Odukoya-Ijogun, initially expressed concerns about his hairstyle. However, after praying about it, she had a vision confirming that he should not cut his hair. She later told him, “You’re not supposed to cut it,” aligning with what God had already told him.

Odukoya described an encounter with a woman from Zimbabwe who traveled to Nigeria solely to attend his church. She shared a vision from 2016 in which she saw him preaching with long hair and wielding a sword that symbolically destroyed the burdens she carried. Remarkably, at the time of her vision, Odukoya did not have dreadlocks. Years later, during a period of personal struggles and depression following a divorce and the loss of her mother, she discovered one of his sermons online and recognized him as the man from her vision.

Reflecting on this divine orchestration, Odukoya noted that cutting his hair against God’s instruction would have prevented this life-saving connection. He concluded by saying, “God was making me keep my hair to save a life.”
