RCCG pushed Iluyomade to establish own ministry-Ayodele
Former Pastor-in-charge of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish, Idowu Iluyomade did not rebel against the church before starting his ministry.
An elder of the parish, Quincy Ayodele, stated this in an interview with Daddy Freeze, which was shared on YouTube on Monday, Church Times reports.
She detailed a pattern of ostracism of Iluyomade, which led him to eventually quitting RCCG and starting his ministry.
Ayodele explained that she expected the RCCG leadership, which had suspended Ilumoyade for three months, to reinstate him after the period of suspension.
Ayodele, a natural medicine expert and consultant to the World Health Organisation (WHO), said she was shocked and disappointed to learn that the church leadership had instead sent a letter to Iluyomade, prohibiting him from stepping onto RCCG premises.
“We were expecting that after the three months he would be restored to the City of David. But to our surprise, what we heard was that he was given a letter that he must not step into the City of David,” Ayodele said.
She said the church could have handled the matter in a better way, given the relationship between Ilumoyade and RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
“Pastor Adeboye and Pastor Iluyomade were like father and son. They are so close. There is nothing Adeboye wanted that Iluyomade would not go out of his way to make available,” she said.
The parish elder said the church’s decision to bar Ilumoyade from showing up at the City of David left members curious.
“He was told not to enter City of David. Why they did that is only known to our daddy, the governing council and God. I cannot answer why. But we are curious,” she stated.
Ayodele disclosed that elders of the parish tried to intervene to resolve the matter, including sending apology letters to the GO, but all their efforts were futile.
She said the Iluyomades resorted to attending another RCCG parish, King’s Court, which Pastor Idowu Iluyomade helped to pioneer years ago.
She claimed that the family was initially welcomed at the parish but was eventually turned away.
She said the treatment of the Iluyomades was at variance with Adeboye’s teachings on compassion.
“Pastor Adeboye taught us that if one sheep is missing out of 100, Jesus would go after the lost sheep. I was now asking will he now allow Iluyomade to be lost to the world?”
Meanwhile, Ayodele also dismissed claims that the late Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc, Herbert Wigwe, was the largest donor to the building of Trinity Towers at City of David.
Ayodele maintained that many individuals contributed various amounts, with some donations exceeding Wigwe’s.
