EFCC clarifies Achimugu probe unrelated to Atiku, Sanwo-Olu
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed claims linking its investigation of Lagos billionaire socialite, Aisha Achimugu to Atiku Abubakar or Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
In a statement by its media head, Dele Oyewale, the commission clarified that Achimugu’s probe centers on alleged criminal conspiracy and money laundering without political implications
“We wish to state unequivocally that the investigations of Achimugu have no correlation of any kind with the two political actors,” the statement read.
The EFCC revealed that the investigation began in 2022, predating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Although, Achimugu previously obtained a court injunction to prevent her arrest, a Federal High Court in Abuja vacated the order on February 19, 2025.
