2027: PDP governors reject coalition with LP, SDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Governors Forum has rejected plans to join any coalition against All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

There are talks about the party’s presidential candidate in the last general election, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar leading a coalition including Labour Party (LP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the forthcoming election.

But the governors said they will open their doors for any opposition party to them in wrestling power from President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

This was one of the outcome of the PDP Governors meeting held in Ibadan, Oyo State between Sunday and Monday.

Chairman of the forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, read the communique to journalists.

Governor Mohammed said they were open to welcoming anyone or parties that want to join the party.

The Presidential Candidate of the PDP and that of the Labour Party (LP) in the last election, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi have been canvassing for a coalition that will oust the APC in 2027.
